Last night (Monday 20 August) The Phantoms and Treble M (aka the Monday and Tuesday rock bands) competed at the Rockshop Bandquest.  We’ve experienced great success in the last three years, and this year we were up against crazy talented drummers, vocalists and keyboardists, and some really tight bands.

The Phantoms were up fourth, with solid performances of ‘Superstition’ by Stevie Wonder and ‘I Like Me Better’ by Lauv. The band had the audience mesmerised with their talent and things were looking good for an award or two at the end of the night.

From there, the talent really heated up, with amazing performances by Waimairi, Queenspark, Pegasus Bay Schools and Cobham Intermediate.

Treble M performed thirteenth, rocking’ out ‘Yellow’ by Coldplay and ‘Wolves’ by Selena Gomez. The crowd really got in ‘Wolves’, clapping and chair dancing along to the strong rhythms.

Then finally it was results time. Congratulations to Amelie Devos who won best vocalist (alongside a student from Cobham Intermediate), and The Phantoms, who gained second place, winning $200.00 for the school music department.  What a great night!
