The Girl's Cricket team have continued on their strong form since Term 1 with an impressive victory over Pleasant Point Primary from Timaru. The weather was poor as Captain Darcy called the coin toss correctly and elected to bowl.
Zoe opened our bowling attack and generated deadly accurate in-swing from the overcast and drizzly skies from the first ball. She got 2 wickets for 1 run in her first two overs. Livvy, Izzy, Sophie, Maia, Darcy and Esther were relentlessly hunting wickets while Scarlett and Indi helped field sharply. Our demanding lines forced our opponents wicket to fall in regular intervals, finally getting all out for 25.
The rain stopped and the sun broke through the clouds as Maia and Livvy then strode out to the crease and methodically smashed through the target in 2.1 overs. Livvy's pulled shot for 6 was most impressive. It is an exciting time for Christchurch South. It has been a while since we have had a team get this far in a knock-out cricket format and we are very proud their achievements!
