As part of a Kahukura cluster initiative, we are pleased to welcome four Mana Ake kaimahi (support workers) into our wider community. Carly, Lauren, Jo and Damion (with the guidance of their kaiarahi, Liz) will be working with our cluster schools to support teachers, families and whānau when children are experiencing ongoing issues that impact their wellbeing, such as: anxiety, social isolation, parental separation, grief/loss and managing emotions.
Kaimahi have already been present in school and on some of our outdoor education outings and we are looking forward to welcoming them at assembly on Tuesday 12th March. Referrals for individual or group sessions with kaimahi are made by teachers in consultation with the senior leadership team as well as whānau. If you’d like to know more about the Mana Ake initiative and how it will benefit our south Christchurch community, please do not hesitate to contact Christine Murphy, SENCO at c.murphy@chchsouth.ac.nz.
