On the 29th of July we welcomed a group of 19 Chinese students and their three teachers to our school for a brief morning visit. They were hosted by Miss Riches , Miss Grant and all their friendly students in Sheppard. We gave them a tour of school facilities, had a Mihi Whakatau in the hall. They then joined in with the Sheppard pods for the rest of their morning programme. The students all loved our school and were very envious of the lovely playgrounds. For all of the Chinese students, this was their first visit to New Zealand. Their school in China is much larger and has four thousand students attending it and a teaching staff of over well over 300. When I asked what their favourites things had been of their ten days in NZ they said they liked the food, the big houses we live in and how uncrowded everything is. In Beijing the students all live in quite small apartments and their school day often ends at 9pm at night. They really appreciated how welcoming all their buddies were so a big thank you to all of you who helped make their visit such a lovely one.
